In&Out: Pre-Release Exclusive Review

Posted by Hard To Offend on February 1, 2011 – 3:48 am

I’m sure  that a lot of you have heard about it or seen the trailer by now (in case you have not click HERE) and yes, this shit is 100% real. The most anticipated clean train graff DVD pertaining to North America is about to hit the screens and you best believe this shit is going to be bananas. Mook-Life had the enormous pleasure of being blessed with a private screening of the marvelous gem, In&Out.

You know we had to pull though and give y’all thirsty motherfuckers some more info along with a review because the teaser is simply not enough. Don’t lie to me, I bet you had that trailer running in loops just like the rest of us, thinking to yourself “DAAAMN, this shit is going to be fucking insane” and you were not wrong. Although I didn’t manage to squeeze out any extra footage, I did however get my hands on some exclusive ass photos and screen shots  from the filming sessions of this DVD. Peep the science.

Some people say that Montreal is the most European city in North America and I would have to agree. At the same time, we are only 6 hours away from New York City and that East Coast state of mind also runs through our veins.  On top of it all, we live in a melting pot of international mookness where immigrants are not a minority. These elements shape and form our writers and give birth to a breed of mooks found nowhere else in the world.

In Montreal, the metro scene is something that most writers don’t get to experience which is where we differ significantly from many European cities. Rarely are trains ever seen running and photos are just as few and far between. Little is known about this medium in our city, and whatever knowledge people do have is kept secret and only carefully shared with members of select circles. So while most stick to walls, rooftops and street corners, a few people are running shit in the underground and on the commuter lines. Evey other day new hits are executed with militarily like planning and cunning precision. Saying that there is “more than what meets the eye” would be an understatement.

Thankfully several of these missions were well documented and as a result we have the first ever clean trains graff DVD being released from North America. One hour of raw footage filled with nothing but Montreal subways and commuters done between 2007-2010. Shit is about to get real.

This was the only subway I’ve ever seen running live and in the flesh. While waiting for the metro after yet another boring day at the office, I was blessed with some ill silvers and characters running from end to end at least 4 cars deep. This shit blew my mind, something I will never forget. I mean, I’ve seen hundreds of hours of footage and thousands of flicks but seeing this shit pull up in front of me was breath taking. Best metro ride I ever had. Kept hopping in and out at every station just to get another look before it disappeared never to be seen again… ha… that is until now.

PV’S and KP10s join forces with several local and international writers on many missions mostly on subways with a healthy amount of commuter action as well…

What intrigues me the most about subway graffiti is the mission aspect of it. You can’t be a total mook about this shit and just hop in to some random sewer like a Ninja Turtle on a whole-car mission. You finna get fucked up. This movie scores major points in the documentation of the actual missions from start to finish.

I mean, this is as real as it gets. You see that camera right there? That’s the movie being filmed and history being recorded. Another thing that I must point out is that this movie is very well shot. Despite the chaos and adrenaline pumping action, they managed to get decent to excellent footage on most missions. Mad props.

Quality benching throughout the movie was very enjoyable.

How ever, out here most hits rarely ever run for longer than 2 days and some pieces never make it out of the yard.  So most of the shit that gets benched has the action scenes that go with it, which is fucking awesome. None of this 20 minute filler of shaky ass, zoomed in footage of benched commuters. Nothing but the juice in this video.

Montrealers ain’t the only mooks hitting the cleans. Many out of towners got down with the home team, mooks from all over. The DVD features action from House, Hirok, Sine, Zoow, Maxice and many others.

One of my personal favorites. The movie has a dope metro station section. Classic footage of station vamping with tons of mooks having a field day on the platforms. Always a treat.

Take it from someone who does this shit for a living. Every week I go through tons of movies and DVD trailers so I see what’s out there. I may have never painted a train but my knowledge is solid and I have been a fan of the panel culture for years. There are a lot of dedicated people out there putting in mad work and producing dope movies. These guys have definitely created something that is well up there with the illest European deli. No doubt about it.

The screen shot is shitty but this particular scene is gold. Unlike some of these movies where everything is super serious and intensely heavy, In&out gives you a feel for the Montreal state of mind: Half mook, half amazing. Lots of funny shit in between very intense back-jumps and wholecar missions. The perfect balance between hardcore and humor forged together for the ultimate educational/entertainment experience.

Police chases, security guards, freezing temperatures and snow storms ain’t stopping them. These guys go in and go hard, pause. It don’t get more Montreal than this.

The editing in this movie is fucking well done. I’m happy that they didn’t rush this despite all of the pressure and anticipation. Getting the footage is one thing, getting it properly edited is a whole other story. Too many movies out there have got either dope footage but poor editing or next level editing with average footage and poor action. In&out wins on both sides of the spectrum.

Another aspect of the film that really resonated with me and that made me really proud is the soundtrack. Not only is it fucking awesome, it’s also 100% Montreal. All of the beats and music were donated by local talents and it delivers sound like these guys serve trains. Big shout out to 514 Indo Records, Teknition, Kenlo, Roi Heenok, 11:11 and all the rest of the squad that contributed. From dubstep to boom-bap, the soundtrack alone is a fucking success.

Other than tons of exclusive heat on exclusive cars like this fire drill mock train, the DVD features an extra bonus 15 minutes of vintage footage from the late 90′s up to 2005. This was a real treat. It was better than just the cherry on top- it was the cherry, the cream and the chocolate sauce on the sundae. The old footage was overwhelming to the soul as I sat there taking it in, semi shook and heavily stoned watching this epic shit go down. Action from Damo, NRK and much, much more. Essentially everything I ever wanted to see in a clean train DVD coming out of Montreal.

The bottom line, this shit is fucking epic and it’s going to scar deep world wide. It’s a 100% Montreal and it feels like one of them international jump offs where you have dudes doing 13 different systems in 10 different countries. Not once was my brain left to wander and not even for a moment did my hater side have a chance to come out. I mean, I’m one of the biggest assholes and my hating is infamous. Matter of fact, I hated on these cats for years but this movie is simply hater proof. If you like graffiti, if you like clean trains, if you like hard core action and dudes rolling deep on some military wholecar missions with a twist of mookness, YOU NEED TO COP THIS DVD WHEN IT DROPS.

Don’t be a faggot and purchase this fucking awesome piece of documented history. Be proud of your brothers from the North and support the motherfuckers that put their freedom on the line and took their time to provide you with a quality product. This is only the beginning.

I think that this info is going to be passed down on the DL to the select mooks in order to avoid unwanted attention, if you know what I mean. For the rest, they can get it at Sub V or Bombing Science when it comes out.
